I arrived at a home to find a two-year-old electric water heater in a closet, with a leak breaker but no sensor. The alarm was going off, and there was no history of a sensor in the installation pictures. I analyzed the unit and found that it malfunctioned once the AA battery drained, despite being plugged in. I discussed the concerns with the customer and presented options for sensor installation. They chose the Band-Aid option, which involved installing a new sensor and restoring water service. During performance and safety testing, I noticed a bad odor in the hot water. I discussed this with the customer and requested to inspect their well and filtration system. I observed a softener, media filtration, and UV treatment in the wellhouse. However, there was no record of water sample reports. I discussed options for filtration with the customer, but they needed time to consider. There was no further work to perform.

When I arrived on site, the customer showed me the symptoms of a mainline clog. They pointed out that there was a one-way clean-out located just outside a bathroom window. After assessing the situation, I presented the customer with options for addressing the issue. They decided to go with the basic "Band-Aid" solution to clear the line. Using the clean-out, I was able to clear the clog quickly—within about two minutes. To ensure everything was working properly, I ran approximately 50 gallons of water through the system and had the customer flush the toilet several times. We achieved good flow, and the system appeared to be functioning as it should.

I am a highly skilled and experienced home service professional. I tested elements and presented options for either replacement or repair. The customer chose a repair option but added a sediment filter on as an extra. I had Jackson run out an ispring automatic purge sediment filter and 2 new elements. When Jackson arrived, I had already done a thorough flush on the water heater and removed both elements. We replaced the elements and filled the tank. We then installed the ispring filter on the incoming cold side and piped the drain into the tnp piping. Once everything was on test, we tested the filter drain and turned the breaker on for the water heater. No leaks and the tank began heating water.
